Preighters and Covid-19 vaccine delivery under debate at Cargo Zone

GHI to examine the key trends facing an air cargo sector that has seized the limelight in 2020

The challenges of handling preighters and the industry’s role in delivering a future Covid-19 vaccine will be under discussion at Ground Handling International’s (GHI’s) Cargo Zone in Copenhagen this November

The Cargo Zone will form a dedicated area on the showfloor and focus on a market that has enjoyed an enhanced status during the pandemic.

A workshop programme will begin with a presentation examining air cargo’s role in delivering a future coronavirus vaccine. The session led by air cargo trade association, TIACA will examine the challenges and opportunities for key stakeholders that will accompany unprecedented global demand for a vaccine.

The rise of ‘preighters’ will be another headline topic within the Cargo Zone. The makeshift conversion of passenger cabins to carry freight has been a common sight during the Covid-crisis. Business leaders at Menzies Aviation and Turkish Airlines Cargo will discuss the operational challenges of offloading cargo from the cabin.

Confirmed Cargo Zone speakers include business leaders at TIACA, Avianca Cargo, Hermes, Unilode and Menzies Aviation. See the full Cargo Zone workshop programme here.

The session will also provide enhanced networking opportunities for cargo and pax operators. A recent GHI Webinar poll found 85% of aviation operators were actively looking to boost their cargo business presence, but many lacked the business connections to achieve this goal.
