‘Have your station teams stepped up to combat Covid-19?’ Enter GHI’s Awards

GHI seeks station employees who have been on the frontline of delivering pandemic response plans in 2020 Pride of Ground Handling Awards programme

GHI has launched its 2020 Pride of Ground Handling Awards with a special emphasis on championing the crucial role played by aviation employees in battling the coronavirus pandemic.

Max Gosney, GHI Conference Chairman, said: “We appreciate this request comes amid a period of severe disruption for everyone in the aviation community. But never has there been a more important time to showcase ground service excellence as our sector lobbies governments around the world to recognise our intrinsic value to transportation, logistics and economic growth by providing financial support to help us through the coronavirus crisis.”

The Pride of Ground Handling Awards were launched in 2018 to celebrate ground service excellence, innovation and the all-important men and women working at frontline stations who make it possible.

Six categories are open for entry including Best Station, Unsung Hero and Best Cargo Handling Operation Awards. Entrants complete a questionnaire and provide supplementary evidence according to each category’s specific qualifying criteria. Coronavirus related stories are applicable in any of these categories.

This year’s scheme is especially relevant to any operation involved in delivering pandemic response plans, aiding repatriation flights or stepping up to assist in the safe dispatch of Covid-19 medicines and PPE through specially chartered cargo flights

Entries are open until 18 September with the winners announced at the Pride of Ground Handling Awards Grand Final on 1 December at our 22nd Annual Conference, Copenhagen.
